Me And Abe Lincoln
Another procrastinators post with a quick 5 state update…

After NY we downgraded to the Jersey Shore. The MTV show “Jersey Shore” did a good job polishing that turd. It was pretty run down and had clientele to match. We had one of the “nicer” hotels in the area. Other people seemed to know this because they were living in it. Yuck.

Next up was the Gettysburg National Military Park. Learned quite a bit about the bloodiest battle in the civil war. Also saw our first, and arguably coolest, Diorama. Google it. Met Abraham Lincoln as well.

Went to Philadelphia to try out the Philly Cheese Steak… We went to a place named “Steve’s” because a Philly resident recommended it to us. Not impressed.

Landed in Newport News, Virginia and stayed a couple of nights with Steve’s Aunt and Uncle. Received some amazing hospitality, got to stay in an amazing house with an incredible view, and went out on a teeny-tiny boat (jk).

Last stop for this post was Columbia, South Carolina where we stayed with friends. Thanks for the warm welcome, dinner, and playtime with the kids.

You can still follow our live progress via Zemango here.  More pictures after the break.Steve's Prince Of Steaks

  1. Oh… You went to Steve’s for a “cheesesteak.” I’m so sorry. I’ve grown up around Philly, lived here all my life, and just went to my first (and last) Steve’s a year or two ago. (I mean, they call themselves “Prince of Steaks,” they must be awesome, right?) I took one look at the roll and saw a solid slab of steak, not a chipped steak sandwich (which is the proper way to make a Philly cheesesteak), and knew nothing good could come of it. Next time you’re out this way, find a good neighborhood corner steak shop (avoid Pat’s and Geno’s, too – they’re good, but they’re all hype) and give it another shot. Steve’s is not a good representative sample by any means.
