DJI Mavic 2 ProDJI has done it again. They just released two new drones, the Mavic 2 Pro ($1,449) and Mavic 2 Zoom ($1,249). Some of the technology is the same, and some is massively improved.

The Mavic 2 Pro comes with a Hasselblad camera, 1″ CMOS Sensor, adjustable aperture, 10-bit Dlog-M, 10-bit HDR video, and hyperlapse (time lapse shots). Long story short, a badass camera.

Both new Mavic 2 drones have longer flight times (up to 31 minutes), a longer range (up to 8km), full omnidirectional obstacle sensing (about time!), ActiveTrack 2.0, and more.

Damn you DJI. Just when I think the competition is catching up your technology takes another leap forward. My credit card number is _ _ _ _…

Parrot Anafi DJI competitor

Finally a drone worth comparing/competing with the DJI models (Spark, Mavic Air). The Parrot Anafi is a great drone that is both portable and capable. Instead of talking to all of the points with this drone I will highlight some of the cool/new features and some of the negatives (not too many).

New stuff/Cool stuff –
– 4K HDR camera with 2.8x lossless digital zoom
– 180-degree tilting gimbal
– No props in the video frame (problem with DJI copters)
– 25 minute flight time
– Quiet prop wash for quieter flights
– Automated flight modes for following objects, etc.
– Ultra portable and just 320g
– USB-C charging means no more bulky chargers
$699 price tag

Negatives –
– The “real life” range isn’t as good as the DJI
– No obstacle avoidance

Great video comparing specs/usability with that of the DJI Mavic Air after the break. (more…)

DIY-Build-Your-Own-Casket-Kit

I tell yah, Amazon really does sell just about everything. They even sell a wooden casket that you assemble yourself, and this one actually makes sense to me. Personally, I don’t want a bunch of money spent on a box for my remains. Not to mention, most of the caskets out there today are made with treated woods and toxic adhesives. Not this Biodegradable Pine Casket ($400).

This DIY  pine casket comes with everything you need to assemble a non-toxic, biodegradable, glue-less, casket. All you need is a screwdriver and a few minutes. It even comes with functional rope handles. Just don’t plan on burying anyone over 6′ as the dimensions are 6′ 0″ x 22″ x 12″.

Maybe solar isn’t your thing. Maybe you will need recharging while along side a running river. Heck, maybe you will be in some seriously windy areas. Time for a Waterlily Turbine Charger ($159) which uses wind/water power for charging up your USB devices. the waterlily weighs 2.86 lbs, can withstand water currents up to 6.8 mph, wind speeds ups to 55 mph, and even comes with a 2600 man battery bank. Not enough reviews to know what the masses think. ...

Doona Car Seat Stroller

Here I am writing about an infant car seat that transforms to become a stroller when needed. I don’t even have kids! The Doona Car Seat ($499) is that cool. In fact, it is the only car seat in the world with integrated wheels. It transforms from a car seat to a fully capable stroller in just a few seconds. Awesome.

The taste of a “true” free range chicken egg is much better than what we typically get at the grocery store. The yolk is a darker, deeper yellow and stands up in the pan. Once you have had a good egg it makes it tough to eat the sad, pale, inexpensive eggs that most folks purchase. Don’t take my word for it, buy four chickens, this chicken coop and let your hens roam the yard and eat feed and bugs. This chicken coop is easy to assemble,...

Starting a fire has just gotten easier. The Trailblazer Fire Starter Sticks ($5.99) with Match Heads light like a match and burn like a starter log. These super-matches are made of compressed wood and eliminate the need for starter woods (kindling, garwood, etc…)....

If you missed out on buying your 21 or 23-window VW bus while they were inexpensive, too bad. VW bus pricing has skyrocketed with people paying well in to the 6-figures for a rust bucket 23 window. Well, here is your chance to get a beautiful VW bus in your garage, granted it is under 3-feet tall. This electrified Volkswagen bus for kids is made by Beyond Infinity is loaded with goodies. It includes two opening doors, two forward speeds, reverse, replica dashboard, a cup holder, working headlights and taillights, and even some storage....

Trailer Valet RVR Airstream

Imagine never having to back up your RV trailer (or any trailer up to 9,000-pounds for that matter) again. Some people make quick work of it while others can’t back a trailer to save their lives. The Trailer Valet RVR makes backing trailers a snap. This robotic tank track RV parking machine is basically a remote control tank with a ball-hitch for your trailers. It has four planetary gear motors, caterpillar treads, 360-degrees of motion, and can traverse most surfaces. More picture sand video after the break. (more…)

baikal-yachts-houseboats-hydrohouse-7

Considering that the earths population is set to grow from 7 to 9 billion in the next 2o years it is time to get creative about housing options. Add that with the fact that most of the earth’s surface is covered in water and that 75 percent of the world’s megacities are butted right up against the water. I’m not even going to get into global warming and sea level changes. You get the idea.  Time for a houseboat.

This isn’t your typical “houseboat”. The HydroHouse was designed by Zhivov and Baikal Yacht Group and combines a houseboat, dock, and seaplane mooring. That alone is pretty amazing but it is also transportable by a normal semi-truck. When/if the world goes full crazy, untie the ropes and push-off.

Check out more pictures after the break.
