When it comes to car care products, I am very picky about what I will put on my car. I only use microfiber towels and typically Meguiars (Quick Detailer) or better brands. I have tried many bad "premium" products and was skeptical to try California Car Covers latest Golden Shine product line. I tried out the following Golden Shine products on a few of my favorite rides; Clean & Clear Glass Cleaner, Tire & Trim Dressing, Premium Wax, Cream Wax, Go-To Cleaner and Degreaser, and Quick Shine.
Instead of boring you with details on every product I tested, I can tell you that, so far, every Golden Shine product has exceeded my expectations. Let's dive in to some of my favorites.
Golden Shine "“ Quick Shine Instant Detailer
First off, the smell, oh man does Quick Shine smell amazing. I was tempted to drink the stuff, smells like candy.
The sprayers on Golden Shine bottles are adjustable to a fine mist and don't leak or drip. Sounds trivial, but for some reason many high end products use inferior pump sprayers that end up dripping and making a mess. Kudos Golden Shine for not skimping on the sprayers.
I used the Quick Shine on a fiberglass bodied car that was already semi-clean. Just wanted to touch it up without going the full wash and wax route. The spray came out nice and fine and disappeared into the microfiber towel and paint quickly and easily. The fine surfaces scratches seem to melt away and the paint was so smooth I couldn't set anything (including the towel) on the car because it would slide right off.
One thing I noticed right away was the lack of static. Typically when I clean this fiberglass car it gets static charged and collects dust and towel fibers quickly, That didn't happen this time.
Golden Shine – Tire & Trim Dressing
The Tire & Trim Dressing is a water based cream formula that can be applied to rubber and vinyl. Think of it as a gentle 40spf sunscreen for tires and trim, no alcohol or petroleum.
Being that Tire & Trim Dressing is cream based it is very easy to apply. When using on tires I didn't end up messing up the already clean rims, which sometimes happens with spray and foam products. My favorite part is that the level of shine is perfect, not too dull, not to shiny or wet looking.
Golden Shine – Clean & Clear Glass Cleaner
I have really struggled to find good glass cleaners and have tried Windex, Sprayway, NXT, Invisible Glass, etc, Golden Shine Clean & Clear Glass Cleaner is my new favorite.
As mentioned earlier, the pump sprayer works well and puts out a nice mist. The window cleaner worked well on both glass and plastic. The product does not have ammonia but still manages to get the glass very clean with no streaks. Some cleaners I have tried work well but tend to haze after a few days in the hot sun. This hasn't happened with Clean & Clear Glass cleaner.
I had a few bugs on the headlights, they came off with minimal scrubbing.
Golden Shine – Go-To Cleaner and Degreaser
I tend to keep my cars so clean that degreasers are not often in my arsenal. However California Car Covers marketing of the Golden Shine Go-To Cleaner and Degreaser convinced me to try it on my wheels.
"This water-based formula contains wetting agents that produce a superior foaming action strong enough to lift caked-on dirt and brake dust from wheels but safe enough to gently clean interior plastics, vinyl, and upholstery. Free from the acids and cheap butyls found in most wheel cleaners that cause wheel damage (etching) and pollute the earth, our Goldenshine Go-To Cleaner deep cleans tires, removing browning and old tire dressing, without leaching the tire’s built-in wax protection."
Once again, I was impressed by Golden Shine, the cleaner made removing brake dust a snap. The cleaner has a mild smell and doesn't seem like it would burn a hole through your hand like most degreasers.
All-in-all I am impressed with the new Golden Shine car care line. The products tend be priced right around $10-$12 and can be purchased directly from California Car Cover. Nice bonus that the product is made in the USA and it works, works very well. The picture below was taken with a simple phone camera to show you the shine.
I prefer Zaino Car Wax my self.

Rob – have you tried Golden Shine?
I’m about to review the Meguiar’s Products including clay bar. I used to use Golden Shine on the ’50 Merc and I think it is a great show car product but I haven’t found that it has the amount of Beading and dirt repelling that Meguiar’s does, which makes for me the choice about what will make my car look better longer.
Brandon – when did you used to use Golden Shine? They JUST came out with the line.
I use Golden Shine products and I love them. Lucky for me, the retail store is minutes away and they have anything/everything a detailer will need! Of course, there ARE better products that are more job specific and “hardcore” but these products are most definitely high quality, effective and affordable. Give them a try, I guarantee you won’t be let down! =D
Product descriptions, colors, bottles, everything seems to mimic Adams car care products. Hmmmm
Yeah… like that but works better 🙂
