I had no idea Epson (the printer people) started making FPV Smart Glasses designed for the drone market. In this case they are made specifically for the DJI line of drones. And from a light dive into the reviews it turns out they are pretty darn good. Unlike the bulky DJI Goggles, the Epson BT-300FPV glasses do not block your line of site. The Epson DJI goggles come preloaded...

Just like cameras, the best drone is the one you have with you. Most of them tend to be sitting at home due to the lack of portability. While DJI has made strides with their Spark, the controller is another item you have to lug around. While I am pretty confident that if I could fast forward a few more years the technology will be better, smaller, and cheaper. For now we have just a few high quality smaller options. The latest GDU quadcopter, the
Imagine bad guys break into your house or business and a traditional alarm system sounds. Not a huge deal, they know they have at least 10 minutes before the calvary is on the way. In other words, they still get to steal things and exit without much difficulty.
Well, this clever idea changes things quite a bit. Once the alarm is triggered the space goes from normal to zero visibility in just 5 seconds. A thick fog fills each room and the bad guys only have one option… to leave the building. More videos of this awesome fog alarm system after the break. (more…)
Police in China have been using facial recognition glasses for a while now. I know, great news right? As if the censorship, internet traffic spying, and general oppression isn’t enough. To be fair America is tied for second in this race to spy on its own citizens. Not cool. Well, China is doubling down on these facial recognition glasses which must mean that they like the results. The glasses are made by LLVision Technology and are used for things like spotting known criminals, checking travelers registration, vehicle registration...
Watch out DJI, there is a new kid on the block. The new kid is Skydio and their autonomous flying camera is the R1 ($2,500). The Skydio R1 flies all by itself with no remote control. It is powered by an Nvidia Jetson AI chip, has 12 navigation cameras for obstacle avoidance, and a main 4k camera for tracking a target. the body is made of carbon fiber and aluminum. One of the best parts is that it is...
This video shows how gallium reacts with the ABUS Titalium Padlock. Pretty amazing stuff going on here. Video after the break. (more…)
AKA – Why I like Apple and have an iPhone. Any government that has overstepped their bounds and openly spy on their citizens sucks, plain and simple. Our once great country has started sucking in many ways, too many to list here. There are more countries that are worse, but it is still a tough pill to swallow for me. Apple makes it tougher for such governments to spy on iPhone users by encrypting data on phones, not allowing access to warrantless government overreaches, and encrypting iOS-to-iOS messaging (iMessage). Don’t...
Take a DJI drone and make it larger, much larger, add a seat and you have the EHANG 184. While it isn’t that simple, it isn’t that far off. This replacement car of the future is a personal helicopter. Much of the flight systems are automated (like the DJI’s). In recent testing of the EHANG 184 they have flown up to 984-feet high with over 500-pounds, recorded a distance of 9.3-miles with a top speed of 80.7 MPH, and logged 1000’s of manned flights. While I am sure it is safe and will only improve with time, I would like to see an 0h-shit parachute added before I hop inside. More pictures and video of the EHANG 184 after the break. (more…)
I am obsessed with dashboard car cameras. I have a camera in every car I own and love the peace of mind they provide should something go awry. Dashcams have provided me with some entertaining videos and have also helped to keep a dishonest person honest during a fender bender. After trying several brands of dashcams I have been loyal to BlackVue for the last 5+ years. The BlackVue cameras are made in Korea, they are high quality, and have rarely failed me. Most dashboard...
Before you swipe on by and ignore this little gadget, think of all of the times you could have used something like this in the past. Ever lost something in the drain, had to look in a tight spot that like an engine, ever wondered how clean or dirty your clothes dryer vent is…? There are a ton of uses for this inexpensive wireless LED endoscope.
For just $20-$30 you can have your very own 720p camera with built-in LED lighting at the end of a 5-meter semi-rigid cable. I know, it doesn’t sound that exciting… until you need just this tool (and don’t have it). In my best infomercial voice “but wait… there’s more… if you order now you also get the following attachments… a hook, a magnet, and an angled mirror!”.
The wireless endoscope works with iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. (more…)
