Level Lock Makes Your Dumb Bolt Lock Smart
I am a big fan of making the home a smarter place. I have smart locks (the Nest X Yale Lock and the Yale Assure Lock SL), smart switches, smart plugs, smart sensors, etc… I prefer the Apple HomeKit enabled ecosystem as Apple is one of the rare tech companies that still cares about customers […]
Save Money And Reuse – Recycled Billboard Advertising As Tarps
I like this one. A bit of recycling stuff that otherwise would have made it directly to the landfill. In this case, old roadside billboard advertisements get a second life as high-quality tarps. They are already UV treated and typically are thicker and stronger than the tarps found at the local hardware store. For a quick […]

Take Back Your Email – The Helm Personal Server
If you don’t trust the big guys to store your data (email, files, and photos) maybe it is time you took things into your own hands, without all of the hard work. Sure, you could set up your own email and file server but the email side of things is a bit trickier than you […]

Lutron Aurora Solves Biggest Problem With Philips Hue Bulbs
I have spent quite a bit of money making my homes lighting situation a bit smarter. I am an Apple guy, mainly because I value my privacy, so naturally, I went with solutions that were Apple HomeKit enabled. My house is a bit older and doesn’t have neutral wires run, which means most of my […]

Phoenix Portable Electric Percussion Massager
I was recently looking for a good portable percussion massager for sports therapy. I kept landing on the Theravolt massager but couldn’t quite stomach the $350 price tag. I eventually found the Phoenix version of a portable percussion massager and bought it. The Phoenix massager is pretty well built and works great for the $200 price. […]

If you are one of the many folks struggling with weak or inconsistent Wifi in your house or business you should check out Google Wifi. It just works. Start off with a 3-pack kit and add more if needed. The only thing keeping my Google Wifi system from being perfect is the long cable and lack […]
