Hoverbike
If you haven’t heard of Colin Furze, give it time. He keeps making crazy ISH that goes fast, flies, and is generally fun. Remember the world’s fastest mobility scooter, that was also his “invention”. Well his latest bit of fun is a functioning hoverbike. The hoverbike uses a couple of parasailing engines and propellers to fly. […]
Zero Zero Robotics Hover Camera
Consumer drones (quadcopters) continue to improve across the board. Cheaper prices, more features, better safety, and more are the order of the day. Another contender, Zero Zero Robotics from Beijing, has a pretty cool quadcopter named the Hover Camera. The Hover Camera is packed full of some innovative features. My favorite feature is that it […]
Flyboard Air By Zapata Racing
A bit Iron Man and a bit Green Goblin. Either way it is totally awesome. The Flyboard Air by Zapata Racing begins where the water-jet Flyboards leaves off. No more tethering to a jetski and tons of water. The Flyboard Air runs on what seems to be a jet engine (don’t quote me on that) […]
Tiny Fuel Cell To Keep Drones In The Air For Over An Hour
Imagine having your personal drone in the air for over an hour instead of just 20 minutes. Yep, longer runs, better videos, and more fun. Not to mention the commercial aspect of package delivery and search/rescue missions. Researchers at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (Postech) claim they have created a miniature solid oxide […]
PowerVision PowerEgg Quadcopter
Let me start off with the unfortunate spoiler. This product is currently just a concept. A beautiful concept but a concept nonetheless. Video of the amazing transforming this egg does to become a quadcopter after the break.
DJI Phantom 4
DJI is at it again and has just released their latest quadcopter the Phantom 4. The body looks similar but it is a total redesign. The big difference between the Phantom 3 and the Phantom 4 are the following – Longer flight time of 28 minutes (vs 23-25) Over 3 mile range Faster flight speeds […]
Eagles Being Trained To Take Down Illegal Drones
Remember the Tokyo Drone Hunting Squad? Dumbest idea ever. Well, the Dutch are going to give Japan a run for their money. A new trial is underway using an amazing bird of pray, the eagle, to intercept drones that might be in the way during an emergency. Is this really that big of a problem? […]
Flying R2-D2 Drone
On the same day that our “government” decides that everyone has to register their “drones” an R2-D2 drone hits the skies. The FAA is making it a requirement for people to register their unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Ridiculous in my opinion. I will rant alone loudly in my office about this while planning my move to […]
Tokyo Drone Hunting Squad
In more irrational drone fear, Tokyo is joining the shenanigans with a drone that can catch/snag other drones. Basically they are flying what looks like DJI Spreading Wings 900 which carries a 3 x 2 meter net. And no, this isn’t a joke. It should be, but it isn’t. Tokyo law enforcement officials will have […]
Joby 16-Rotor Electric VTOL Aircraft
Fingers crossed that electric VTOL (vertical take off and landing) aircraft become a reality. The folks at Joby Aviation agree and have started showing off their S2 VTOL concept. It has two seats, a convertible clear top, and 12 tilting electric propellers for VTOL and flight, and 4 efficient props for forward only power. Once […]
