Verizon Alltel Merger – If Approved Would Form Largest US Cell Carrier

Verizon Alltel Merger

Not exactly news at this point… Verizon and Alltel want to hop into bed with on another.  The merger/acquisition would cost over $28 billion (yes with a “B”) and make the new company the largest US cellular carrier.  AT&T will be a bit bummed, as they love saying they are the largest US carrier in marketing speak.

  • AT&T has 71 million subscribers
  • Verizon (67 million) + Alltel (13 million) = 80 million subscribers
