Sony PSP2… Actually The NGP

Sony PSP2

It has been a long time since Sony has changed their portable gaming gadget, the PSP.  Sony's latest portable gaming device (thought to be called the PSP2) is actually known as the Sony NGP or Next-Generation Portable.  We are still waiting for the real name, The new Sony NGP has more horsepower than some laptops and PC's.

The NGP is powered by a quad core ARM Cortex A9 processor and

a quad core PowerVR SGX534MP4+ GPU.  The touch screen OLED LCD screen is a full 5-inches with 960×544 resolution.  The controllers look/feel more like the standard Sony DualShock controllers, and there is a touchpad on the back of the NGP for additional control.

The NGP has a ton of cellphone type features like 3G, WiFi, GPS, and gyroscope.  Some of these features are used for Sony's new LiveArea social gaming platform which allows you to find people near you to play and share info.

Expect to see portable versions of your favorite games like; Call of Duty, Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout, Uncharted, and Killzone, should be live by this holiday season.
