There are some cool baby monitors out there these days. One of our favorites that is still elusive is the Withings Smart Baby Monitor. Until that makes it out we will be using the Motorola MBP15L Digital Monitor With Room Temperature Thermometer.
The Motorola baby monitoring system is wireless and the receiver uses rechargeable batteries that last about 5 hours. In addition you get a great microphone, long range reception, room temperature thermometer, lullabies, an out of range warning, and reminder alarm.
