The Forerunner 910XT will track running/walking/biking distance, swim strokes, pool lengths, elevation, pace, speed, heart rate, and calories burned. This is "the" watch for the sporty types, no need to put on a specialized watch for each sport. The 910XT manages to pack all of this tech into a low-profile design.
The Garmin Forerunner 910XT is waterproof to 50m and has a 20 hour battery life. Another cool feature is the "virtual racer" which allows competitive athletes compete against themselves based on previous times. The 910XT is available for $400 here.
