Blackfriars Bridge Gets Solar

Blackfriars Bridge Solar

The Blackfriars Bridge of London was built in 1886 and is about to get a high-tech upgrade.  The bridge will be covered in solar panels making it the "world's largest solar bridge".  Work has already begun and should be completed in 2012.  The 4,400 solar panels are expected to generate 900,000kWh's of electricity a year and reduce about 511 tons of CO2.
