Microsoft to Cut 18,000 Jobs By Next Year

Microsoft Building

The rumored layoffs from Microsoft are finally becoming a reality. A big reality. Microsoft will be reducing its workforce by about 18,000 employees, 12,500 of which will come from the Nokia acquisition. This bad news came from a company memo from Satya Nadella, Microsofts CEO.

The layoffs are said to be announced to the unlucky individuals in the next six months and will effect both professional and factory employees.  On a positive note, Microsoft has the money and morals to do this cut in a nice way, offering both severance and job transition assistance.

Oh Microsoft. What went wrong? On many fronts this question is easy to answer, but I won’t go there.
