When I typically think about Smartphone mounts that use the cars air vent as the mounting point… I think of cheap mounts that rattle, vibrate, and often fall off. Most of the vent mounts suck… bad. I was hoping for something different with the KENU Airframe Portable Car Mount ($24.95). Lucky for me, the KENU Airframe performs superbly! Read on for details.
KENU Airframe Review
The packaging is clean, simple, and even has a viewing window in back so you can see the product. Not much waste here, in fact the manual is a single card on the packaging interior.
The first things I noticed when handling the Airframe is that it was well made and very simple. Simple is good in this case. This portable car mount attaches to your smartphone via a spring loaded clamp. The arms are rubber and securely hold any phone up to a standard 5-inch screen (iPhones, Android phones, etc…). If you have one of those phablets you can opt for the Airframe +.
After clamping the Airframe onto my iPhone I barely noticed it was there. It weighs less than an ounce and it even made a good impromptu kickstand. The AirFrame is absolutely perfect for folks who travel and use rental cars.
The KENU Airframe mounts to skinny, thick, horizontal, or vertical style vents. My car has wide horizontal style air vents and it slid on in about 5 seconds. The mount holds tight, doesn’t rattle, and hasn’t come loose yet regardless of rough bumps/turns. An added benefit, aside from not blocking my driving view, is that the A/C kept the phone cool on a hot day.
Thanks KENU, this is the first car mount I have been excited about in a long while.
