FoodSaver FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum System

The FoodSaver name has been around for a long time and they have some great home vacuum system for keeping food and or supplies fresh. The idea is quite simple, use an airtight bag and remove most of the air via a vacuum. This process allows food, and general supplies like first aid products, to last longer than in a traditional ziplock bag.

The larger FoodSaver V2244 ($81) is a great product for the home but it requires wall-power and quite a bit of counter space. For smaller jobs, check out the FoodSaver FSFRSH0051 FreshSaver Handheld Vacuum System ($28). It is handheld, operates on rechargeable batteries, and uses cool resealable zipper bags.
