Beijing is already quite cramped causing incredibly expensive and small apartments. This creates the perfect environment for inexpensive and easy to build houses that can fit just about any shape or size lot. The China’s People’s Architecture Office (PAO) just completed a home for a first-time buyer in Beijing. Mrs. Fan’s Plugin House was constructed in a few hours with a small team and cost just $10,000. Pretty amazing. Apparently this house can be built in under 24 hours with just two unskilled people.
Mrs. Fan’s Plugin House is built in her parents courtyard where an old dilapidated house once stood. The prefab technology has all of the wiring and plumbing sandwiched inside the wall so it is ready to assemble at a highly discounted price compared to standard building methods. PAO states the the $10,000 cost makes this home about 30 times cheaper than a typical Beijing apartment. Video with more information after the break.
