Skully AR-1 Augmented Reality Helmet

Skully AR-1 Helmet

I am not a fan of the Google Glass glasses for quite a few reasons, not going to go into that here.  With that said, if there ever was an application for an augmented reality heads up display, the motorcycle helmet is the perfect place for it.  The Skully AR-1 Augmented Reality Helmet is getting close to becoming a real product.  Some of the obvious bits, the helmet is a fiberglass full-face design, is DOT and ECE approved, and is packed with a bunch of technology.

The Skully AR-1 Helmet uses a transparent HUD display on the lower right section of the helmets visor.  The system is powered by Android and has a 180 degree rear view camera, an accelerometer, a thermometer, a compass, and a gyroscope.  Pair the Skully helmet with your smartphone and you can also have GPS directions, music, phone calls, and voice controls.  Interested in becoming a beta tester?  Sign up here.  Video of the Skully AR-1 after the break.
