Kentura Solar Plant Is Cleaned By E4 Robots

Ketura_Solar_Robot_Cleaning

Two of my favorite things coming together to make the world a better place.  Solar and robotics.

The Kentrua Sun Solar Field in Israel’s Negev desert is 20 acres in size and produces 9 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year.  As you might imagine, having a large solar array in the desert means that the panels will get dusty from time-to-time.  Dusty panels equal lower efficiency.  Cleaning this huge solar farm was slow and expensive, which meant it only happened nine times per year.  Not anymore.  The panels are cleaned every night by a fleet of almost 100 energy-independent robots.  The Ecoppia E4 use a combination of air blowers and microfiber brushes to clean the panels, no water needed.  Check out this solar cleaning robot after the break.
