I have been using a traditional leash for my pup, and previous pups. The good old fashioned leash served me well but had some issues which I didn’t realize until I upgraded to a retractable leash. For as long as I can remember our family has always used a standard leash. I think it was around 6-feet in length and it has served us well, for the most part. One big thing I realized when transitioning to the retractable leash, I didn’t have to be pulled to every tree, bush, or fire hydrant when my dog needed to relieve himself. This leash allows me to unlock the internal reel and let the dog get up to 16-feet away from me. Very nice, no more leaving the dry sidewalk for muddy stops along the walk. This leash is rated fro dogs up to 55-lbs.

Quality/Look and Feel – The Peteast Retractable Dog Leash ($16) is made of thick/solid plastic. I mention this because often times plastic products are so flimsy I feel like I can break them in half with little effort. Not this retractable leash, it feels like it is built to last. The metal snap hook is solid, the 16-foot leash is a tape style and doesn’t tangle easily. The reel mechanism returns the cable naturally and locks quickly with a satisfying clunk sound/feel.

Ease of Use – Having spent so many years with a standard leash, it took me a while to realize I was finally in control. I could lock the leash permanently, lock it temporarily, or let the dog run free up to 16-feet. After getting use to being able to shorten and lengthen the leash at will I don’t think I will be going back to the old leash. The leash extends and returns with ease regardless of what angle Fido is pulling from. The Peteast Retractable Dog Leash is a snap to use and looks much cleaner when not in use.

Packaging & Manual – The packaging doubles as the manual, not too much to figure out here. There are basically three settings; free mode, pause, and locked. Easy. The packaging is also fit with just enough room for the product, no waste here which we like.
