Folding Motorcyle

MotoCompo1

The Honda Motocompo is a tiny folding scooter sold by Honda in Japan only from 1981 to 1983. We (GadgetKing.com) have one of these sexy scooters motorcycles in our office and it is a blast to ride. It is truly hard to believe that the MotoCompo is over 25 years old. The Japanese, specifically Honda, really make amazing products that are ahead of their time.

Read on for detailed pics, videos, etc… You gotta love the Japanese advertisements “trying” to look “American”… too funny!

The Motocompo was introduced as a “Trunk Bike” to fit inside the new Honda City subcompact car. The handlebars, seat, and foot-pegs fold into the scooter’s rectangular plastic body to present a clean, box-shaped package of 1185 mm L × 240 mm W x 540 mm H. Honda’s initial sales projection for the domestic market was 8,000 City and 10,000 Motocompo. In all, 53,369 Motocompos were sold by the end of production in 1983.

Just raced it against a 1969 Honda Z50 K1 and it was basically a draw… the motocompo is maybe a hair faster.
