Control Your Kids TV With BOB

bob_sizereference

Bob, the innovative TV time management device that goes between your monitor and the power outlet. It lets you specify the amount of time your kids can watch TV or play their videogames. Parents get to decide how much TV or game time their kids get daily or weekly. Each kid is issued their own PIN which they have to enter to kick off their Bob time. Once that time runs out, Bob shuts off the connected device. Multiple kids can have individual PINs. Additionally, parents can block out specific time slots.  Please keep in mind that Bob will not filter TV content, it is simply a time management tool. Even though Bob works with TVs, videogames and computers, you don’t want Bob directly controlling the power to your computer or gaming console, since sudden shutdowns can and will bork your system. Lastly, as cool as Bob is, it does not absolve you of your parenting responsibilities, and while it may seem easy to stick your kid in front of the TV even with this time allotting device, nothing and I mean NOTHING replaces real parental interaction and supervision.

You can get yourself a BOB for about $79 here. More pictures after the break.

  1. People love to pass the parenting buck to technological crutches. Instead of getting BOB, try sitting down and actually spending time with your kids. Kids who have active family and social lives do not need some electric gimmick to control their behavior.

  2. Jemima – are you serious? Kids need TV… who wants to spend time with their kids?
