Microsoft makes $44.6 BILLION bid for Yahoo

Microsoft, again, makes a signifcant bid for Yahoo. Both Yahoo and Microsoft face steep competition from Google with regard to their internet business units. Even if Yahoo and it’s shareholders agree to the deal there is no guarantee antitrust issues will allow it to happen. Either way this story will play out over many months.

The $31-a-share offer is a 62% premium over Yahoo’s closing price from Thursday ($19.18). Yahoo shares popped on the news, jumping 45% to $27.72by 12:20PM ET.
