Thermite Welding On A Swedish Railroad

Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of metal powder, as the fuel, and metal oxide.  It takes a bit of heat to set it off, but once it gets going it undergoes an exothermic oxidation-reduction reaction.  Long story short, it gets hot enough to weld railroad ties together.
